ABOUT US
Why Medina Dogs Training
We saw a gap in traditional dog training programs that rushed dogs through lessons without enough time for real learning or lasting change. The result was often short-term progress that didn’t hold once training ended.
At Medina Dogs Training, we take a different approach. Our programs are designed around immersive, real-world training programs that builds calm behavior, confidence, and reliable habits that transfer home with your dog.
Training should feel clear, fair, and natural, not forced. When dogs truly understand what’s expected of them, the results don’t just show up during training, they last for life.

Driven by Results, Grounded in Care
Our Method
Our training philosophy is intentional: lasting results come from clarity, structure, and a strong relationship between dog and owner, not short bursts of obedience that fade once training ends.
We use a practical, humane approach built on clear communication, consistency, and fair structure. Dogs learn best when expectations are understandable and boundaries are reliable, which creates confidence, calm behavior, and trust.
Unlike programs that rush dogs through rigid timelines or focus on surface-level compliance, we prioritize real learning that holds up in everyday life. Our programs include significantly more owner coaching than the industry standard so the results don’t stop when training ends, they transfer home and last.
Meet the Founder
TIM MEDINA
Hi, I’m Tim Medina, founder of Medina Dogs Training.
My journey into dog training began over 14 years ago at the Michael Ellis School, where I first saw what was truly possible and began exploring the craft. At the time, I was running an online company as CEO, and training remained a personal passion that only grew over the years.
Five years ago, I entered the world of Nose Work (canine scent detection), earning several successes in trial competitions. That led to an invitation to teach at Marin Humane, where I still serve as an advanced Nose Work instructor. More recently, I expanded into advanced obedience training with a focus on real-world application, continued learning, and leadership-based handling.
I launched Medina Dogs Training after seeing a major gap in the dog training world. Too many programs rushed dogs through obedience before building trust or understanding, then struggled to properly train and support owners once the dog went home. I believed there had to be a better way. Real training starts with a bond, and lasting results require both the dog and owner to be set up for success.
We don’t rush dogs for the sake of speed or surface-level results. Instead, we focus on building clarity, confidence, and connection first. When a dog feels safe, understood, and engaged, they don’t just comply under pressure, they choose to work with their trainer, and eventually, their owner. Our board-and-train programs are built for long-term success, not here today, gone tomorrow results.
What We Solve
With a background in leadership and systems building, I created Medina Dogs Training to solve three major problems:
Short-term results instead of lasting change
Too many programs focus on surface-level obedience that fades over time. We focus on building calm, reliable behavior that holds up in real-world environments and lasts beyond the training period.
Not enough owner education and follow-up
Even well-trained dogs can regress if owners aren’t properly guided. We place a strong emphasis on owner coaching, transition support, and clear communication so results continue long after your dog returns home.
Time-based training instead of outcome-based training
Many programs sell training by the week. We focus on solving the actual problems. Our approach is built around completing a training project that addresses known behavior issues while building a solid foundation for long-term success.
Our programs aren’t about short-term obedience or tricks for show. They’re built around lasting change, calm walks, polite greetings, peaceful homes so you and your dog can thrive together.
“Clients often describe my calm energy, thoughtful approach, and honest feedback as a refreshing and results-driven experience.”
